Sembla is a celebration and exploration of craft. We design and develop elevated products that honor makers and the planet. Each product is made entirely by hand in female-led artisan cooperatives, with emphasis on creating opportunities for women and disadvantaged workers.

We believe in celebrating and supporting the people behind the products we design. For almost a decade we’ve been growing alongside artisan communities to develop thoughtful collections. By providing access to the global marketplace, we support makers around the world with meaningful and sustainable income opportunities.

Our collaborative design process celebrates the cultural traditions and techniques of our artisan partners, rooted in a mutual respect of each other. Sembla’s modern home goods and gifts focus on the integrity of the product, the wellbeing of the maker and the health of the planet.

Our modern home goods are thoughtfully designed in California and made worldwide by our artisan network using techniques specific to their culture and region. This allows us to create high-quality, functional objects using local, natural materials and time-tested techniques. From the maker to your home, we ensure the entire product lifecycle is sustainable and ethical.

Value #2 | Traditional Techniques
Our objects are all handmade in limited batches by small-scale makers using ancient skills. Informed by the maker’s hands, each one is infused with the essence of their country and culture, bringing a global perspective to your space.

Value #3 | Sustainable Opportunities
Since 2015, we’ve worked with our artisan partners to develop programs that create opportunities for disadvantaged workers and put women in positions of leadership. We are currently 100% female led and our goal is to continue empowering women and positively impacting poverty rates and social justice issues.
