AMQS of three detailed measures from the beloved symphonic intermezzo for solo violin and orchestra from the opera Thaïs, one of the greatest and most performed encore pieces in the violin repertory. On a large sheet measuring 17 x 12.5 cm, titled, signed "J. Massenet / Paris / Aout 1904." Toning around the edges, overall fine.

The opera premiered at the Opéra Garnier in Paris on March 16, 1894. This is only the second example we have ever seen of the composer quoting from the violin intermezzo from the work, a very desirable quotation indeed.
