Holiday Special 1949 George Nakashima For N19 Knoll Straight Chair In Walnut, Freshly Refinished Smart Choice [zQgENjvC]
This is an N19 Straight Chair, originally designed by George Nakashima in 1946. This particular example was produced by Knoll in the United States and dates to the year 1949. The chair is comprised entirely of walnut. This early straight chair for Knoll represents some of Nakashima's earliest work and is quite special due to the piece pre-dating most of his studio designs. The Knoll relationship also pre-dates pieces he did for Widdicomb. The chair has been freshly refinished, and also has a 451 marking underneath.
The chair measures 17.5 inches deep, 24.75 inches wide, and 30 inches high with a seat height of 16.25 inches. While this piece does show some wear consistent with previous use, including some cracks in the seat, the chair is in good vintage condition. Please see photos.
