I spent a lot of time crabbing, shrimping, and fishing with my dad when I was a little girl. We would catch these tiny creatures in our cast net, and I'd sit in the boat with my hands in the bait bucket, allowing the crabs and shrimp to skitter around my hands and trying not to get pinched. Up close, crabs and shrimp have amazing little colors you don't normally notice. The intricate patterns and colors on these paintings are a recreation of my memory of childhood wonder and delight at these coastal wonders.
