The Ptolomeo® x2 Vertical Bookcase by Bruno Rainaldi is a striking evolution of the original Ptolomeo design, doubling its capacity while maintaining its minimalist aesthetic. Introduced in 2007, this freestanding bookcase features a central steel column with two mirrored rows of cantilevered shelves, creating the illusion of twin vertical stacks of books. As with the original, the shelves become invisible when filled, allowing the books to appear as if they are floating in mid-air. The design is stabilized by two slender stainless steel rods at the back, ensuring both form and function are seamlessly integrated. 

Crafted from lacquered metal, the Ptolomeo x2 is available in two elegant finishes: glossy white or matte black with a polished stainless steel base. Its double-sided configuration makes it versatile enough to serve as a room divider or a standalone centerpiece in various settings, from sophisticated living rooms to modern offices. With a capacity to hold approximately 170 books or 560 CDs, and each shelf supporting up to 17 lbs, it combines substantial storage with a sleek, space-saving footprint.
