This four-part class series is designed to build your skills and confidence as you create garments you'll be proud to wear. The focus is on technique and construction, with a focus on making a drawstring trouser and a classic tee shirt. Join us to learn the basics of garment construction, including working with stretch fabric, creating pockets, buttonholes, and hemming. Whether you're new to sewing or looking to expand your skill set, this course is perfect for you.

Hands-On Learning: Techniques & Projects

In this class, you'll be guided step-by-step through the process of creating a drawstring trouser with a false fly and real pockets. The classic pant sits at the natural waist, offering a timeless and comfortable fit. Next, you'll move on to making a classic tee shirt, featuring a woven fabric body and a knit neckband, pocket, and optional roll-up sleeve. These projects are designed to challenge and enhance your sewing skills. By the end of the class, you'll have a comprehensive understanding of garment construction and a beautiful outfit to show for it.

Class Details & Supplies

This course is suitable for students aged 18+ with an advanced beginner skill level. To ensure a successful learning experience, it is recommended that you have completed a basic sewing course or are comfortable threading your machine and sewing simple projects. Students will receive a 15% discount on supplies purchased at Sew to Speak. The class includes all necessary materials, such as Merchant and Mills patterns, sewing machines, cotton drawstring, matching thread, and general sewing notions.
