This unique and varied collection is produced in Afghanistan using the Ziegler weave. The traditional methods of shearing wool from the indigenous Karukal sheep, then hand-spun and coloured using natural vegetable and mineral dyes. These pescatarian designs of carpets and rugs, which are, of course, hand-knotted, have the most exotic fish species, natural or imagined. They are fantastic. They generally are more vibrant and less 'old' looking. With reduced washes, the exciting and uplifting colours remain almost Jewel-like. The final finishing processes are carried out in Pakistan, where some post-production occurs. This will mean alignment corrections, surface clipping and tumbling, and the washing mentioned earlier.
