The Moeck Renaissance Consort Collection is based on instruments in the Hofburgmuseum, Vienna. This famous collection contains a significant number of very well preserved Renaissance recorders, which, on the whole, are constructed in one piece.

Unlike the originals, the head and lower joint of the Moeck renditions are provided with tenon joints reinforced with a brass ring. The basic playing pitch is 440 Hz (the originals play at 460 Hz), but the tuning can be adjusted slightly by the short metal ring that links the tenons. When tuning the instruments, we take special care that the individual recorders blend well together and cannot be singled out by their sound or volume.

The fingering of the new series of Renaissance recorders differs somewhat from the conventional Baroque fingering. They are designed with the original Renaissance fingering, producing meantone temperament. The purity of thirds in meantone is particularly attractive when used for ensemble playing. With the exception of the great bass and subbass, the series is also available with conventional fingering and temperament. The instruments have a range of an octave plus a sixth.

The instruments are made from dark stained Maple and are treated with linseed oil. They must be oiled regularly until the wood becomes naturally impregnated, particularly in the earlier stages of the instrument's use.

This instrument is sold with a hard leather case containing a cleaning rod and cloth, cork grease, a certificate with manual for maintenance, fingering chart and maintenance kit.
