Unearthing Sans-Souci depicts two children as they unknowingly discover a compelling truth, years after the event. Le Palais Sans-Souci was the royal residence of Henri Christophe, King of Haiti in 1813. Christophe named the palace infamously after Haitian bossales leader Jean-Baptiste Sans-souci, as an attempt to permanently erase the memory of his rival. Sans-souci was executed by Christophe in 1803.
