Originating from the upper Rio Nanay in Peru, this particular Silver Dollar species is both rare and recently discovered. Juvenile individuals of this species exhibit a striking and vibrant iridescent green coloration that covers their entire body, making them easily identifiable. As they mature, the intensity of this color diminishes slightly, but adult fish still retain a distinct green hue. Male adults also develop reddish pink patches on their sides, adding further visual interest.

As with most Silver Dollar fish, this species prefers to be kept in groups, as they are schooling fish by nature. It is recommended to maintain them in a group for optimal well-being.
