Steiff has created some of the most adorable plush animals and Wittie Owl is no exception, especially when it appears as a hand puppet. And this toy is special not only because of its attractive appearance but also because it is an early model #317 made between 1955-58. Its simple but endearing felt beak is an indication of that series. Similar to other toys of the time, Wittie was finely handcrafted in Germany using the nicest mohair plush. It has amazing airbrushing details and two amusing flapping wings. Little black tufts on the top of its head complete its lovable personality. Little Owl is in great condition just missing the chest tag. The colors are still very nice. Wittie's head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. This playful little bird puppet can't wait to join your vintage toy collection!
