We are offering this as a pair as traditionally would have been presented as a set - jarit for a male body wrap and sayutas a female body sling for carrying a child and other objects. The structure is a representation of the agricultural rice growing landscapes. The centerfield of a jarit textile has the same name as a dry field - pelemahan. The outer edges of the cloth are called pinggir or the banks/ dikes of the rice field. The dark edge on either end of the cloth is said to be the drainage ditches called glontor. The elongated diamond pattern, often called tumpul, is young bamboo and the section between the tumpul and centerfield is called a bogeman which is where special rice varieties and culturally significant plants are planted. The motif on this batik is called kembang waluh refers a flowering pumkin motif from the village of Bongkol.
