When shooting, I always look for a different angle. I noticed a huge winter storm had gone through the desert one evening and so set my alarm for sunrise to see what I could find. As I hiked through the park I was blown away to see the normally dry river bed alive with color and flowing! I set up my tripod in the middle of the stream and carefully chose a colorful composition of rocks in the foreground - the desert rocks looked like opals, glistening in the flowing stream. It was a bizarre moment, being at one with the stream. Two days later the stream dried up and never flowed again for another year!
