Amongst the canals and waterways of Venice are these massive feats of architecture that have lasted for centuries. You can sense the pride with which they were built and brilliantly anchored to the sea floor. This structure captivated me – it just exudes the feeling of timeless grandeur. No laser levels here, just the hard work and raw talent of uncompromising craftsmen. I stood in total awe, blown away by this accomplishment of the past. Walking across the powerful Byzantine mosaic, I felt like royalty – if only for a moment. I centered this shot to give the feel of stepping onto the intricately detailed corridor. Looking at it now, I am right back there, ready to take one more proud stroll under this ancient canopy.
