In this most sacred of places, I felt the presence of the ancient Navajo spirits all around me as the end of the day enveloped me. In silence the landscape before me began to darken, and deep shadows obscured the view. Behind me the last remnants of the desert sun slipped below the edge of the earth and cast an entrancing glow over the scene. In front of me, the outline of the full moon emerged, and I stood in awe as the transition of day into night enacted before me.
