A record snow fall just before Christmas of 2008 provided the right opportunity for me to capture magic in the desert. The morning of December 16, 2008 was a morning I will never forget! Following my intuition that has guided me throughout my career, I was on the road at 5:00 am heading out to Red Rock Canyon, a short drive from my home. Under the darkness of the winter skies, I set up my tripod and I felt something spectacular was about to happen. My heart raced as I watched a golden band of sunlight squeeze through a heavy cloud. This majestic scene that had generously revealed itself to me vanished in seconds — the light was gone, the moment over, only to live in my memory and on film forever.
