Brilliantly combining the midcentury modern style with evocative imagery of the Oregon Trail, “Westward-Ho” looks forward and backward simultaneously with artistic charm and postwar optimism.
Produced in 1953 by James Seeman Studios, Inc., “Westward-Ho” was part of the renowned firm’s American Holiday Collection. This original remnant features a classic pink and gray color scheme that perfectly captures the era. A different version of this same paper is held in the collection of the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum.
James Seeman Studios, Inc. of Long Island, New York was a creative presence on the wallpaper scene in the 1940s and 1950s, producing both machine-printed wallpapers and hand-screen-printed murals in a wide range of popular themes.
The paper is mounted to 1/2" birch plywood with a keyhole in the back, ready for hanging.
