A. It's metal, but it's lightweight and durable. 

Q.  Will the 3/4" be suitable for Karnak 97 roof application?

A.  To be brutally honest. It's pretty awesome once you put the roller on and start working with it. It helps cover a lot of wall space, but it gets heavy after a while of painting. Be prepared to soar once you're done with the job.
