The Shun Classic 6 inch (15 cm) Chef's Knife is perfect for slicing, dicing, cutting and chopping small to medium-sized fruits, vegetables, and other foods. Many cooks prefer this smaller size chef's knife for its sheer nimbleness. The wide blade keeps knuckles off the cutting board, and with its curved belly, the Chef's knife can be gently "rocked" through fresh herbs or spices to produce a very fine mince. While the blade is extremely strong and will hold its edge, Japanese Steel does not have flexibility so we do not advise using this knife on bone in meats, frozen fruits, or stone cutting boards.

The beautiful Classic line of Shun Japanese cutlery features the look and benefits of Damascus steel, yet without its rusting problems. This look is achieved by 16 layers of high-carbon stainless steel, wrapped around the VG-10 center core. The D-shaped handle rests precisely in the curve of the fingers. The black PakkaWood handles provide the beauty of genuine wood, but since the wood is impregnated with a waterproof resin, the handles are as durable as plastic and dishwasher safe! (Although we NEVER recommend putting your knives in the dishwasher!)
