Drive Customizer is a PC tool that allows a drive to be completely customized to an OEM’s needs. OEMs can develop versions of the ABB firmware that match their applications exactly. The tool allows changes to access levels, including creating passwords for different users, and modifications to parameter or menu visibilities. It is possible to edit and alter any text within the drive, including parameter names, menu names, fault, and warning messages. Company logos can be added to the keypad. Custom-specific macros can be generated for parameter edits or custom start-up scripts to allow guided commissioning. The new firmware can be loaded into the drive without powering it up, using a special “cold configuration” tool.

Cabinet Drives for ABB General Purpose, ACS580

Cabinet drives for the ABB general purpose, ACS580, now range from 75 kW to 500 kW. The complete range is built into two cabinet size variants: 75 kW to 250 kW and 250 kW to 500 kW. The smaller power cabinets feature a new “dirty air” configured cooling path, removing the need for input filters for the IP55 variant, thereby reducing costs and the need to maintain the filters. As with the larger power cabinets, users can select from a range of optional extras.

The ATEX package offering is further enhanced with the ATEX approval of the ABB general purpose drive, ACS580. Together with the ABB industrial drive, ACS880, the ACS580 has the certified STO and PTC options, so the most appropriate drive can now be chosen for any given application.
