On this creative course we will delve into the many possibilities of taking inspiration from the historical technique of ‘Or Nue - where metal threads are shaded with various colours of soft threads to create contrasting patterns and images. Goldwork threads hold so much potential to explore colour, shade and contrast in embroidery, exploring the beautiful contrast that metal and shade can give us. With a balance of technique and experimentation, there is plenty of ‘breathing space’ left for you to discover your own response to the historical techniques of goldwork.
