MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is a technology that's becoming increasingly popular in riding helmets. It's a safety system designed to provide extra protection against rotational forces, which can cause serious brain injuries in the event of an impact.

The MIPS system consists of a low-friction layer that sits inside the helmet, which allows the helmet to rotate slightly upon impact.
