Carving knife from Landers Frary & Clark Aetna Works with carbon steel blade, and celluloid handle with floral silverplate ferrule and buttcap.
Landers Frary & Clark Aetna Works markings were used from 1865 to 1950 but I suspect this knife is from around 1900 at the earliest as it's guard and handle is nearly identical to one marked LF&C Universal. In 1909 LF&C purchased the trademark Universal from Levi Snow of New Haven Ct. and Universal branded knives were made in a large variety from LF&C.
Blade is nice and sharp and was not so sharpened down that it required a re-profiling but does have some pitting from previous rust.
Vintage and New Old Stock knives do not come sharpened. Please request sharpening if desired in the order notes section of the cart page.
