Unusual round nosed slicer marked Letuaire Toulon with fine hand forged hand ground semi flexible 14.25" blade, brazed nickel ferrule and one piece ebony handle.
I am not aware of any knife manufacture in Toulon, a port and resort city on the Mediterranean, the markings are likely for a retailer in Toulon.
This knife has all the feel and materials of a early 20th century or 19th century knife possibly from Thiers but Nogent could be a possibility as well.
Blade has a fresh sharp edge and is remarkably straight for a knife of its age and style of manufacture, handle is tight and secure, the brass cap at the end of tang is gone but the handle is tight and free from wiggles.
14.25" edge 19.25" overall length
