• The fireplace façade can be finished with brick, marble, tile or stone, typically at a thickness of 1¼”:
• Sizes listed are raw box dimensions. Finished dimensions are 3" less when lined with fire brick splits or panels.
• The exterior may be finished with the same non-combustible products, including wood siding as long as proper clearances from combustible materials are adhered to according to the installation instructions.
• The prefabricated fireplace system meets or exceeds all federal, state, and local construction building code requirements and is certified for both indoor and outdoor installation

Finish the Look: Optional Firebrick Panels

To ensure the longevity of your fireplace, all of our Mason-Lite units require an inner firebrick liner. You can use Mason-Lite’s panels or let a skilled mason hand-lay the firebricks for you.

The firebrick panels add a classic look to your fireplace and efficiently reflect more heat into your living space. A typical firebrick lining takes a Mason five to eight hours of labor to install but the Mason-Lite prefabricated firebrick panels install easily in a matter of minutes.

The optional prefabricated firebrick panels are available in Full Running Bond, Split Running Bond, and a Split Herringbone. These prefabricated panels are lightweight, durable panels that are installed on site. Unlike others faux brick panels, Mason-Lite panels are made with real firebrick. The set consists of two sides, a back and a bottom that fit the standard firebox sizes of 33″-63″.

Chimney Design

The Mason-Lite fireplace construction has been tested with both a Masonry Chimney, manufactured by MFI, and a Class A listed metal chimney. Either chimney system will work.

When installed, the maximum overall height of the Mason-Lite fireplace design is 40 feet. The minimum chimney installation height is 14 feet, given that the chimney is straight. If the chimney is not straight, the minimum installation height is 17 feet.

For outdoor fireplace installation, you may want to look at the Mason-Lite Refractory Chimney System.

For indoor installation, we can supply all necessary listed UL103 - Class A, Metal Chimney System (DuraChimney II) components based on your installation requirements. Other Accessories You May Need: ‣ Outside Combustion Air Kit Because homes are being built so tight, many jurisdictions are requiring additional outside air to make up for negative air pressure. For convenience, the kit comes pre-drilled for this application. Your local building code will determine if this is required in your area. The fireplace will work without the outside air kit, although it is more efficient to use outdoor air for combustion. It may be required by code in many areas for indoor installations. For outdoor installations, it’s optional but can still be helpful if the fireplace is in an enclosed patio, under a roof, or in low-wind areas where airflow is restricted. ‣ Masonry Arch For aesthetic enhancement, add a classic, finished look to the firebox opening. The Masonry Arch Kit consists of 2 pieces that can easily be mortared in to give a custom look. ‣ Height Kit Mason-Lite Rumford Height Kit adds vertical height to the firebox to raise the fire viewing area. Consisting of a rear wall and 2 side walls, the height kit increases the opening by 8". When using this option, be sure to check chimney flue sizing (diameter) based on the installation parameters (i.e., chimney height and new face dimensions) to ensure proper draw. Highly recommend this gets evaluated by a professional. Also important to note that the price of the firebrick panel will change when a height kit is added. ‣ Metal Base For combustible floor installation, a Mason-Lite Metal Base or other approved non-combustible support structure must be used. Metal Base Kit ensures the minimum clearance above combustible flooring is maintained. This kit is complete with brackets and cement board. Used for installations on combustible floors and second story applications. ‣ 14" Anchor Plate/Damper Use as a starter section for DuraChimney II. Bolts directly to the fireplace outlet. Damper section allows the chimney to be closed when the fireplace is not in use. Includes chain and lintel hook. For outdoor wood-burning Mason-Lite fireplaces, a damper is generally not required, and often not recommended, but it depends on your specific setup and goals. For best practices, always follow Mason-Lite's installation guidelines and check local codes or consult your installer or inspector. Outdoor fireplaces typically do not need to conserve indoor heat, which is the main function of a damper in indoor units. ‣ Steel Throat Dampers Mason-Lite’s very own steel throat dampers have been designed specifically to fit in the Mason-Lite fireplace throat. Typically used for indoor wood burning fireplace. Damper blocks are not required. This damper fits perfectly in the MFP33, MFP39, MFP44, MFP49 and the MFP63. Cast Iron Dampers are an option. Please check with us on availability. ‣ Damper Blocks A damper block is a precast masonry component that supports and correctly positions the steel throat damper during installation—crucial for proper airflow and safe operation. (if using Mason-Lite Firebrick Panels, Damper Blocks are not needed)
