Our Patterned Sofas from Sophie Conran

Our range of Floral Designs by Sophie Conran for John Lewis are made with glorious velvet trims that adorn the edge of the cushions, the outline of the main cover and also the beautiful bows at the back of the sofa. This exquisite and unique detailing really shows the craftsmanship that goes into each one. 

This beautiful design is from Sophie’s English Garden range in our Grey Skies colourway. The gorgeous bouquets of roses and cottage garden flowers are reminiscent of long summer days in an idyllic garden and have a very warm and welcoming feeling with this soft and gentle grey-green background. 

Taking Care of our Patterned Fabrics

Our Sophie Conran for John Lewis patterned range is printed on 100% linen that is  machine washable at 30c on a gentle slow cycle. Please be careful to dry your covers naturally and not to tumble dry. It is advisable to take specialist advice from a qualified upholstery cleaning expert if you have a localised stain before you attempt to remove it, as some cleaning products can damage printed patterns and the natural linen basecloth.

What makes a patterned sofa a great choice for a room?

“People who see our patterned sofas fall in love with them for the sheer joyfulness they bring to a room. It's almost impossible not to smile when you walk into a room with one of them in. We take a lot of care to choose really special fabrics and if you look, you’ll see that the pattern matching across the sofa is really quite an art form in its own right. So if you’re looking to bring joy to your room, these sofas can really help you to make it happen.”

How would you style a patterned sofa within a home?

“Some of our customers will choose one of our patterned sofas as a highlight within an otherwise non patterned room, while others like a more maximalist look within their room and bring lots of different patterns together. More is more!”

What are your tips for making a patterned sofa look cohesive within a room?

“Some would say that part of making patterns work within a room is having more patterns. Others prefer one of two highlights and complementary colours and textures, it's such a personal thing, but above all, they are here to be enjoyed.”

Natural materials perform very differently from the man-made foam fillings that are in most of the sofas you’ll find today. Take care to plump the cushions in a similar way you would plump a feather bed pillow. The plumping moves the feathers around, pushing fresh air in between them which makes them even more comfy.
