The artist spent his childhood in New Orleans and his designing years in New York City, Paris, France, and Hawaii. In NYC he studied jewelry fabrication at the Soho loft studio of internationally known designer Hiroko Swornik. Revlon Cosmetics chose Mikel's "Charlie Triangle" design to be marketed worldwide. His work has been featured at Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Hall's, Bloomingdale's, and leading jewelry stores throughout the country.
