The Nomad Book Weight was born out of a desire to have a no fuss, packable book weight while traveling. To that end the Nomad begins with a high quality leather strap mated to our signature solid brass and copper bars for weight (which will also take on a beautiful patina over time). Some of the leathers (Horween, in particular) feature a beautiful pull-up which showcases lights and darks of the leather at the bend points which makes for a beautiful effect. We try to make sure all the finish details are attended to, and every leather strap is also hand beveled and burnished to give it the end look it deserves. All Nomads utilize solid brass or copper binding posts and fastening hardware, either snap or button head stud. 

The snap head works better on stiffer leathers and the button well on more pliable pieces. In either case, as the leather is worked and it softens the closure system becomes easier to manipulate. We intentionally like them a bit tight from the start so they're just right as they're broken in – like a baseball glove. 

The weights are solid bars of brass or copper and the whole works comes in at just under a pound. Anti-slip pads on the bottoms of the weights are just grippy enough to keep things in place but not so grippy as to harm the pages.

Keep in mind that natural brass and copper will tarnish in time and lose their brightness. Periodic cleaning with a high quality metal cleaner is recommended if the brighter finish is desired, but not recommended with this product as the cleaner may stain the leather strap.
