This OPTi refractometer with 3 preset scales has been specifically designed with winemakers warning to use the Swiss Oechsle scale in mind. The 3 preprogrammed scales allow winemakers to assess Brix percentage (sucrose, % Mass), measure grape must, and determine alcohol by volume (ABV).

The Oechsle (Swiss) scale is based on Swiss data and is ideal for measuring grape must in Switzerland. It has traditionally been used on a hydrometer when measuring grape must, however by using a refractometer instead you can be sure to use less sample, create little to no mess, and have no need to use expensive and fragile glass hydrometer jars in a wet environment!  We also have the German scale available.
