With no thumbscrews or magnets, the Freedom Ring uses a strong extension spring to maintain fabric tension during stitching. The Freedom Ring replaces the outer ring for most hoops.  It reduces and often eliminates hoop burn caused by over-tightening thumbscrews. No more thumbscrews means less time to adjust your hoop to the fabric weight.
