Loch Lomond is probably Scotland's most versatile distillery in terms of the number of different styles of whisky produced for different purposes on one site. In addition to its two traditional pot stills and a Coffey still, the distillery is also equipped with four Lomond stills, these have a traditional pot still base, but with the addition of a rectifying column instead of the traditional swan necks. Varying the distillation techniques has enabled the distillery to produce no less than eight different single malts (plus numerous grain whiskies and blends) of different styles on one site.

Steam and Fire is a celebration of the incredible alchemy and engineering capability of  Loch Lomond distillery and a product of the companys exploration, experimentation and know-how as master makers, distillers and coopers.

Loch Lomond Steam & Fire brings to life the diverse distilling process of Loch Lomond along with, hand-charred casks from the on site cooperage, resulting in this truly unique and imaginative whisky.

Created using spirit from both the straight necked, " Lomond Still", and more traditional swan neck stills. The spirit was initially matured in American oak casks and then finished in heavily charred casks, flamed by at the in-house cooperage.The charring process adds a unique complexity and brings out lots of melted brown sugar character as well as a rich buttery mouthfeel with notes of orange and dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Really sweet smelling, honey, toffee, orange liqueur, even some jam roly poly in there, and a little smoke.

Palate: Sweet and creamy with muscovado sugar, marmalade, and chilli jam.

Finish: Dark chocolate comes through with fudge and lingering wood smoke.
