Product Specifications and Technical Details

Mars Crystal glaze is designed for cone 04 bisqueware and requires four coats for optimal coverage. It performs exceptionally well at cone 6, although it can also be fired to cone 5. To achieve the best results, we recommend leaving the inside or back of the form unglazed. This glaze is suitable for normal medium-speed firing and does not require a special cooling schedule. However, for increased crystal growth, a controlled cooling schedule is advised. To prevent running, apply the glaze about half an inch above the foot of the piece, and consider using a drip tray or soft bricks to protect your kiln shelves. Mars Crystal glaze is food safe, but due to its durability, it is not recommended for food surfaces.
