The Motobilt rear Jeep TJ (1997-2006) cross member is the strongest available. We base this claim because we did not simply use thicker material we also added gusseting to the cross member. The original intent was in designing a cross member for a customer who wanted to run it as a high clearance rear bumper.

Over the years we have seen many Jeep Wrangler TJ's needing a replacement for the rear cross member. Often times due to someone attaching a snatch strap or chain to the thin factory Jeep cross member. Other cases have been due to rust. Either way the Motobilt rear cross member is a great alternative to simply installing a factory cross member. The Motobilt cross member is fabricated from heavy duty 3/16 inch steel plate. The rear cross member retains the factory bolt holes for the rear bumper and gas tank skid.

The cross member also provides mounting holes for the factory corner body mount bushings. The cross member ships full welded and ready to install. Installation does require welding. It is highly recommended using a professional welder for the installation. The cross member is shipped out bare steel ready to install.
