For sale here is a very scarce impregnated Orvis "Limestone Special" bamboo fly rod -- 8'6" 2/2 5wt. Serial no. 69016. Made in 1973. The rod is excellent condition though it does show some slight wear from fishing. The varnish and wraps remain in great condition. Darkly tempered cane with cinnamon wraps. The script remains clean and bold. U-shaped hook-keeper. Cigar grip 6 1/2" in length with moderate soiling. Aluminum down-locking reel seat over a walnut spacer. The ferrules are size 13/64 with an excellent fit. The rod weighs 4.60 oz. The action is on the medium side of medium-fast. Smooth and well balanced. This is a very popular Orvis taper and very authoritative casting rod with big flies. Original bag and tube with green and silver label.
