7.3 PCM Testing Service (1994.5-2003)

Did you accidentally remove your performance chip from the PCM while the key was on or while the vehicle was running? Or did the PCM just fail unexpectedly? Diesel Technology of Chattanooga is here to help! If your PCM or IDM is determined to be unrepairable, we’ll contact you directly.

We’ll perform a thorough bench test on your PCM and IDM to identify any issues.

The more details you provide about your vehicle’s symptoms and problems, the more thoroughly we can test your modules and offer precise troubleshooting guidance.

Our PCM testing includes:

• Verifying the PCM boots up correctly
• Checking the activation of the Glow Plug Relay/Module, Fuel Pump, Injector Driver Module
• Verifying the Cam Position Sensor signal
• Ensuring the IDM is firing injectors properly
• Confirming that transmission shift solenoids respond to gear selection
• Testing the PCM’s connection to a scan tool and checking that it transmits the correct sensor values

We also use an oscilloscope to check signals like the Injection Pressure Regulator and Electronic Pressure Control. After testing, we’ll email you our findings and suggest any additional steps if your PCM is working correctly.

If you're using a performance chip, please send it with your PCM. There is no additional charge to test the chip along with your PCM. Do not send the cable or switch.

For troubleshooting no-start or injector misfire issues, we recommend testing both the PCM and IDM unless you have already ruled one out by swapping in a known-good unit.
