For your consideration we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1930 Waterman #5 Jet Black Celluloid Fountain Pen with Red Barrel Disc & Keyhole NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly sized, rubber sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Clip, Gold Filled Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K Red Keyhole NIB.

This fountain pen is made from celluloid in Jet Black color. The black coloring is a deep black and has been polished to a fabulous shine. The barrel has the imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S MADE IN CANADA IDEAL GLOBE FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has the "Red" disc with "5" imprint. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms on the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the celluloid. This Waterman #5 measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/2" posted. The lever is crisp and clean with just a hint of brassing on the arm. The Waterman Ideal Clip displays a touch of wear at the very top portion of the clip. The gold filled cap banding does not display any brassing.

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. I have tested the lever filling systems with water and works flawlessly and as it originally intended to.

This Waterman has a Red Keyhole Nib Made in Canada. The Red color coded Waterman Nib is known for having Medium stroke/line. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .82mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line with very light pressure measuring roughly .45mm and will flex upwards to a double broad stroke of 1.30mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is vintage Waterman #5 Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition. I would consider the condition of this fountain to be very fine to excellent. These later Waterman numbered models are increasingly difficult to acquire, especially in this condition.
