For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Fantastic Restored Circa 1938 Sheaffer Oversized Balance Fountain Pen in the Golden Brown Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and barrel. Replaced the rubber sac with a new silicone sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Clip, Cap Banding and 14K Gold 2-Tone NIB. I also cleaned, buffed, and polished, the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the White Dot with a gorgeous Gold Filled Clip that displays a hint of wear on the flat ball clip edge. The Cap Banding displays a bright gold fill color again with no gold fill loss. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co Fort Madison, Iowa, U.S.A. Patented in the U.S.A.". There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Oversized Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 6 3/8" posted.

I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should.

This Sheaffer has a 14K LIFETIME NIB. The actual writing portion (the iridium) of the 14K Sheaffer NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .64mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring roughly .49mm and will flex to a medium stroke/line measuring .71mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a fabulous Oversize Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen in the Golden Brown Celluloid that would grade in Excellent Condition. Certainly, this fountain pen is collector grade and this fine writing instrument is ready to write with or just add to writing arsenal collection.
