For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Circa 1930 Waterman 42 Safety Fountain Pen in Red Ripple Hard Rubber Pattern. This fountain pen has been cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have hand cleaned the NIB and feed. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel, cap, spiral, rod connector, turning the knob, and end unit with mineral oil. Hand polished the Cap and Barrel along with the Ideal 14K #2 Flexible NIB.

This fountain pen is made from rubber in the Red Ripple pattern. The hard rubber portion of the pen displays a vibrant red and black color that displays just gorgeously! The butt end of the barrel end has the imprint that reads, "42" and the center of the barrel reads, "WATERMAN'S RED. U.S. WATERMAN IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFF. FOUNTAIN PEN".

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no monograms or personalizations on the barrel or cap. There are no cracks, nicks, or repairs to the hard rubber. The hard rubber material looks beautiful that displays way less than normal use - a super clean pen. There are no leaks from the cap or the turning knob and tested for 48 hours. This Waterman 42 measures 4 3/4" in length capped and 5 7/8" posted with the nib extended.

The NIB is a 14K #2 Flexible Ideal Waterman NIB. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K Ideal NIB, it measured at a medium point of .76mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a medium line measuring roughly .63mm with light pressure and flexes to a triple broad stroke of approximately 1.83mm with a medium to firm pressure. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
