For your consideration, we are offering for sale this restored Circa 1927 Waterman Black Chased Hard Rubber 52 Fountain Pen in restored condition. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. I will have to mention that this pen is one of the best condition Waterman Black Hard Rubber Fountain Pens I have ever handled - it is a pristine example.

This Waterman 52 is made from hard rubber in the chased black ebonite or hard rubber. The coloring is consistent throughout the cap and barrel displaying a deep black coloring. The fountain barrel has crisp and clean imprints at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG US PAT. OFF. FOUNTAIN PEN ". The butt end of the fountain pen has a clean and crisp imprint "52". The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman 52 measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 3/4" posted.

This Waterman 52 has the 18K Gold Filled Clip, Engraved Barrel Banding, and Lever box. The lever and box assembly are in excellent condition. The Globe and Ideal imprint on the lever is crisp and clean, with no wear. The clip displays no wear. The 18K Gold Filled Barrel Banding displays no wear. All the trim has been polished to shine brightly. I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new sac.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully.

The NIB is the 14K #2 Waterman Ideal New York #2 Nib and is wet noodle - such a spectacular fountain pen to write with. When measuring the actual iridium tip of the NIB, it measures at .86mm when measured with digital calipers, a Medium point. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a Fine line measuring roughly .57mm with very light pressure and flexes up to a Quadruple Broad stroke of 2.81mm with medium to firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The nib has excellent responsiveness and writes smoothly. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.
