Made of the highest quality vegetable-tanned leather, these Field Notes Covers are hand carved with an Art Deco inspired poppy design. 

This project began as an effort to challenge ourselves, practice our skills, and improve our techniques. Anna started by creating several prototypes of the case pattern, tweaking each one for fit. We chose a 5/6oz full-grain cowhide tanned at Wickett & Craig in Pennsylvania, known internationally for its superior quality. Sarah then took the cut leather and developed the carved design, a nod to her love of California and a formative time in Italy. We gave each cover a polish with our favorite Black Rock leather conditioner, but left the color natural, ensuring that all of the darkening and patina that comes from regular use and sun exposure will make the cover uniquely yours. The edges of the leather are finished to a gloss, and each cover is numbered.
