For divers, timing was everything, and Breitling set out to give them the most clear-cut dive watch possible by eliminating any feature that didn’t support their lifesaving needs underwater. This pared-down watch was named the Superocean Slow Motion. What remained were clean lines, chunky luminescent indexes, squared-off hands and a high-contrast dial ring, all aimed at maximum legibility. Practical, yes. But what people really fell in love with was the look.

The Superocean Super Diver retraces the Slow Motion's celebrated design codes, while adding modern features, like a scratch-proof matt ceramic-inlayed bezel and camouflage dials. The 46mm titanium case with broad hands and indexes in luminescent SuperLumiNova® allow for easy readability underwater. Inside the case, the Breitling 10 calibre movement- a self-winding mechanical movement- allows the wearer an approximate power reserve of 42 hours. The watch is water resistant to 1,000 m (3,300 ft), as well as being shock-, sand- and saltwater-resistant.

And there’s much more to this watch than meets the eye: Its soft-iron inner case offers protection against the effects of magnetic fields, while its bi-directional rotating bezel can be safely secured with a lock on the left side of the case. The two strap options (an anthracite rubber strap or titanium bracelet) have a folding clasp that allows for micro-adjustments of up to 15 mm for easy wear over rashies and wetsuits.
