Designed with nature in mind, the unique shape of each candle of this set is inspired by a different plant that grows in the region where they’re made.

NANAO is the name of the city, the heart of the glorious countryside in which we live. Because we are surrounded by the sea and mountains, it is easy to find places that take us closer to nature. There are five different candles, all with a motif of a different plant that grows in the Noto Peninsula. The candles are all named after a letter of the word ‘plant’.

Takazawa Candle was established in 1892, being one of the oldest candle makers in Japan. Producing traditional handmade candles derived from plant-based raw materials, using techniques that haven't changed since 16th century.

These candles have a tall intense flame, burning brighter than most modern paraffin candles – due to the wicks composition of dried reed wrapped around a washi paper cylinder. They also let off less soot and smoke, due to their plant-based materials.Due to each piece being made from natural Haze wax, candles come in an array of soft colours, such as, off white, muted grey and muted ochre.
