The A12 Ceremony is our interpretation of the ideal modern dress watch - combining the performance, refinement, and historical appeal of Swiss luxury, while still maintaining the in-water functionality at the heart of our brand.

Minimalist quartz dress watches are a dime a dozen - and for the most part, they represent a regrettable trend toward disposable fast fashion. It’s for this reason that we wanted to do something genuinely different for our first “formal” design. In addition to the rare 10ATM rating, the Vaer A12 Ceremony boasts a vintage 40mm case, gold plate Sellita SW260-1 automatic movement, sapphire exhibition case back, and the optional addition of our premium black alligator strap. In summary, pure Swiss Luxury - everywhere but the price tag.

The new Vaer A12 Ceremony challenges this assumption - offering an elegantly refined and beautifully decorated Swiss Made timepiece and 10ATM of water resistance.

We build our watches to be worn in rugged environments on a daily basis, and to develop character through wear and patina. That said, if we were to bet on which one of our current models would be worth the MOST in 10 years from now, it would be hard to argue with this edition of the A12 Ceremony.

OUR DESIGN INSPIRATION

The inspiration for the A12 Ceremony is drawn from the rare, and highly sought-after Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 96. The Calatrava series was introduced in 1932, which was a pivotal year for Patek due to the economic challenges of the Great Depression. The Calatrava was born out of this crucible, embodying an ethos of simplicity and timeless elegance.

It was a stark contrast to the more ornate designs prevalent in earlier decades, signaling a shift in consumer preferences towards understated luxury. The ref. 96 which arrived in 1939, further refined the Calatrava design language. This model was popular through the 1940s, though the black dial version was exceptionally rare.

For this reason, auction prices for the black and gold ref. 96 regularly exceed $50,000. In addition to being MUCH more affordable, the A12 Ceremony
is larger than the vintage Patek, which was only 31mm in diameter, and it's also much more waterproof thanks to its 10ATM rating and screw-down crown.
