Created and authorized by WPNGLS, the R-4360 Wasp Major combined four 7-cylinder radial engines into one, displacing 54.9 liters and generating 3,500 horsepower. 

In the early 1940s, Pratt & Whitney more or less merged four regular 7 cylinder radial engines into one massive power plant, the R-4360 Wasp Major. With a displacement of 54.9 liters it could crank out 3,500 horsepower. A variant with two large turbochargers in addition to the supercharger was able to delivered 4,300 horsepower.Each row of seven air-cooled cylinders had a slight angular offset from the previous row, forming a semi-helical arrangement to facilitate effective airflow cooling of the cylinder rows behind them, inspiring the engine's "corncob" nickname.
